第6ステージはスプリントになるかと思われたけれど、アレクサンドル・ヴィノクロフからアドバイスを受けていたXDS Astana Teamのアロルド・テハダが頂上からアタック。
見事に集団を出し抜いてスプリンターの夢を砕いた。

パリ〜ニースの組織委員会は、スキーリゾートであるオーロンでの降雪を待つことなく、土曜日に予定されていた最後の登りを完全にキャンセルすることを決定。
これにより、フィニッシュ地点は当初の予定より標高がはるかに低いイゾラに変更され、レース距離は120kmとなる。

さらに短縮。結局最後の47kmの上りだけを実施することに。

ドリアン・ゴドンは移籍後の初勝利となった。前日2位だったけれど、これで納得だ。
リザルト
優勝した INEOS Grenadiersのドリアン・ゴドン
パリ～ニースでステージ優勝を飾れること自体が、とにかく素晴らしいことだ。私たちは集中力を切らさなかった。カルロス・ロドリゲスが先頭で多くの仕事をしてくれた。
彼は40kmも先頭で走った。チームは私のために全力を尽くしてくれた。ケヴィン・ヴォークランも同様だ。信じられないほどの働きだった。脱帽だ。
今週は何度かあと一歩のところまで迫っていた。昨日も2位だった。今日はチームが素晴らしい働きをしてくれた。私は選手たちの後ろで完璧な位置取りができていた。
その後、彼らは完璧なリードアウトを見せてくれた。私はたった13秒間、全力を振り絞ってスプリントするだけだった。チームでチームタイムトライアルを制した時は楽しめたけど、今回の個人優勝は僕にとって特別な意味がある。
残念ながらINEOSのジャージを披露できなかった。気温が2度しかなかったから、レインジャケットを着てスプリントした方が賢明だったんだ(笑。
ケヴィン・ヴォークリンは総合4位につけてますね。
彼を表彰台に立たせるよう努めるつもりだ。チームは現在、好調だ。ペロトン最大のチームであるこのチームの中で、自分も良い調子だ。勝利でシーズンをスタートできるのは、もちろん素晴らしいことだ。
3位 Decathlon CMA CGM Teamのケース・ボル
チームメイトたちが、スプリントに向けて良い位置に連れて行ってくれた。優勝争いに加わることはできたが、今日はドリアン・ゴドンの方が単純に速かった。彼にお祝いを言いたい。
とても緊張する一日だったが、結局は幸いなことにそれほど悪くはなかった。道路は広かったが、路肩の雪が走りを難しくしていた。
最終盤の落車については何も知らなかったが、皆が無事であることを願っている。雪の問題は、ほんの少し悪化するだけで、本当に非常に危険な状況になってしまうことだ。
