INEOS Grenadiersのミハウ・クフィアトコフスキが、一緒に逃げていたブランドン・マクナリティのパンクにより最後は独走を決めた。
INEOS Grenadiersは、生き残った集団にエガン・ベルナル、アクセル・ローランス、コナー・スウィフト、ベン・ターナーと4人もおり有利にレースを展開していた。

残り12km地点の第9セクターだった。前に3人逃げており、集団の先頭はTeam Visma | Lease a Bikeのベン・トゥレット。
エガン・ベルナルは2番手を走っていた。上記の上空からの映像でわかるようにエガン・ベルナルはカーブで落車。
その場でリタイヤとなってしまった。レースでは何度もアタックをかけており調子は非常によさそうだった。

悲しいかな、チームからの報告では鎖骨骨折が判明している。手術となるのか、温存療法になるのかは、わかっていない。
復帰が早いのは手術となる。
エガン・ベルナルは、ジロ・デ・イタリアとブエルタが予定されている。折角、コロンビア選手権で2冠を達成したのに非常に残念。
